Abortion not to be held

According to some surveys, many women who had abortion years later, still feel a sense of regret or guilt for having an abortion, especially once they have children of their own.

Furthermore, abortion exposes women to various health risks and the danger of losing fertility, and abortion frequently causes intense psychological pain and stress.

Since there are many people who wants children, I believe women who are thinking of getting abortion should also consider putting the baby up for adoption.

  1. Thanks for posting this, Mayu. From now on, when we cite surveys or some other form of research in our blog entries, it will be necessary to say precisely what the source was for that information. Otherwise, it's impossible for the reader to know how to evaluate the information and whether or not it may be accurate or biased in certain ways.

The second statement that you mentioned...

"...abortion exposes women to various health risks and the danger of losing fertility, and abortion frequently causes intense psychological pain and stress."

...is quite controversial in that it is a disputed claim often made by pro-life advocates. You might want to check out some relatively neutral medical sites to determine whether this is an unfounded claim or based on some facts and research. The claim they are making here is a factual medical one, not a moral one. But, of course, there are both scientific and moral arguments in this controversy.

I agree with you that more women should consider adoption as an option in light of how many couples in Japan wish to have children but cannot for one reason or another. However, there's still a stigma in Japan over adoption that must be overcome.
